Press has the duty to hold accountable every level of government. In doing this, concerned individuals, governments and its multifarious agencies do often yield to the cry of the people.
In our report in October 2022, Nigeria Grassroot News highlighted deplorable state of many of the roads in Anifowoshe ikeja. Our crew kept pressing those it knew could do something about it. It also cross-published the story in another platform with a wider audience so it can get necessary exposure to people that count.

Three months after the publication, as preclude to 2023 general Election in Nigeria, Ikeja Constituency federal representative at the House of representative(Hon. Faleke), Abuja as part of his campaign promises to be elected made efforts to make little improvements on some of the road with a facelift. But not much was achieved within the one month of the campaign period. Unfortunately, he did not win his seat and he abandoned the project immediately.
After the general election, Sanwo –Olu led administration and possibly with supportive efforts from Ikeja local government secretariat, significant work had commenced since late May 2023 till now.

A massive drainage work had been done in Afisman Drive as well as Bayo Sodipo street. Though the level of drainage work done on Akinremi street still needs further development.

In addition, the end of Balogun street had been repaired with Asphalt. Though the road had been closed so the construction of railway intersection on Agege Motor road can be completed for use.

It is also of note to see that the two majorly affected streets: Afisman drive and Bayo Sodipo streets road are receiving enough attention though the speed is very slow. But we must acknowledge the fact that concerned authorities did listen
