The management of the Osun State University has debunked a post widely circulated on social media about scholarships for students who wish to study Arabic or Islamic-related courses at the university.
The post which has been in circulation since Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2022, reads:
“If u have shown interest to study Arabic/IRS at Uniosun on scholarship, send Jamb, Waec, Neco Results to Prof M.O. Opeloye on 08033340495”
In the statement made available on the University’s verified Facebook account, on Wednesday, 03 August 2022, the Management dissociates itself from the post and also warns prospective students, parents, and other stakeholders from believing in such information and falling into the hands of scammers.
“We would like to put the record straight that no Department of the University is authorized to admit students as all undergraduate admissions are centrally processed by the University and through the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board. As such, all admissions not formally confirmed by the University Registrar and JAMB are null and void.”
“All prospective students and stakeholders are therefore urged to contact us through the authorized phone numbers displayed on the University website, visit our main administrative blocks in our various campuses or send us messages via all the authentic University social media handles for any inquiries about the University.”
Also, The University reassures stakeholders that there won’t be a bias toward any religion or other sentiments.
The statement was signed by the university’s Public Relations Officer, Ademola Adesoji.
