The Yobe State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Goni Bukar Lawan, had died in a fatal accident lately on Tuesday by 6:15 pm.
This was made known to The Punch earlier today by the Federal Road Safety Corps in Bauchi.
The former member of House of Representatives reportedly died in the accident with his vehicle on Tuesday night, while going to Kano State.
While confirming the incident to The Punch, the FRSC sector commander in the state, Yusuf Abdullah noted that the incident happened adjacent A.Y Dagauda Fueling Station in the Daguada Village, around the Potiskum in the Dambam local government area of Bauchi state.
Yusuf Abdullah disclosed that, the personnel from the Dambam station rushed to the scene within 12 minutes tonrescue the victim.
He said “The lone fatal crash happened on Tuesday at about 6.15 pm and immediately we were informed, our men rushed to the scene within 12 minutes for a rescue operation.
“The incident happened along Dambam – Potiskum road, adjacent to A.Y. Dagauda Fueling Station at Dagauda Village, along Kum in Dambam local government area of Bauchi state.
“It involved a government vehicle, a Lexus Jeep – GX 470 – with registration number: 11A01YB.
“The vehicle was driven by Hon. Goni Bukar Lawn and he was with one other male adult when the crash happened. The other person sustained some injuries.
“The crash was caused by a speed violation which led to a loss of control.”
The commandwe also noted that the personnel of the Motor Transport Division if the Nigeria Police Force of Dambam Divisional Headquarters took the victims to the Dambam General Hospital for treatment.
He therefore added that the vehicle had been packed from the road and no traffic hold up in the area.
