Gang activities are becoming a daily occurrence in some parts of Nigeria. Lagos used to be the epic centre in the SouthWest with Ikorodu area leading. But gradually the menace is spreading, Just a four days ago, Saturday to be precise, Ofatedo residents in Egbedore Local Government area of Osun were thrown into in panic as suspected cult gang allegedly murdered son of the traditional ruler of the community, Nigeria Grassroot News gathered that the cultists killed son of Oba Abdulahi Okunloye the Olofa of Ofatedo, Yinusa Okunloye in Ofatedo at his resident in Ofatedo.
Prince Okunloye was murdered in a cold blood, According to report, Prince Okunloye was called out of his residence in Ofatedo around 12am and was shot in the chest, A purported calculated effort that would ensure he died before help could be gotten
Following this, there was palpable tension in the area as residents felt if a Prince could be killed in such a brutal manner the hope of a common man in the street is slim. As it would be expected the Police and other Security Agents immediately mounted roadblocks in strategic areas of the town to avoid reprisal attack or further degeneration of laws and others in the town from 8am on Sunday. This also affected business activities as many were paralysed.
SP Yemisi Opalola, The Osun State Police Command Public Relations Officer, already confirmed the incident. According to Nigeria Grassroots Sources Opatola said “a group of suspected cultists numbering three invaded Olofa street, Ofatedo and called Okunloye out of his room and shot him in his chest” The remains pf Prince Okunloye according to report had been deposited at UNIOSUN teaching Hospital while a possible investigation had commenced.
The State PPRO, Opatola said few arrest had also been made while the real effeorts are in place to arrest the real suspects.
It will be recalled, an aide of Deputy Senate President was murdered in this same circumstance by cult and gang activities.
