The governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun has terminated the contract awarded to RAJCOM Construction Company, for the reconstruction of Iwoye-Owode road in Yewa South Local Government Area over low pace of work

The State governor announced the termination of the contract during the inspection of the 25.4 Kilometres road, as he expressed his dissatisfaction over the slow and carefree attitude of the contractor to the construction job. He had therefore directed the Chinese Civil Engineering Construction Company (CECCC) which was handling the other part of the road construction to take over the reconstruction of the entire road from Ilaro to Owode-Yewa.

Governor Abiodun said the reason why the contract was divided into two and awarded to the two companies initially was to fast track the construction of the entire stretch of the road. Governor Abiodun said “The State initially divided into two parts the Ilaro to Owode- Yewa raod for a good reason. While Ilaro to Iwoye was allocated to Chinese engineering construction company(CECCC), the remaining half from Iwoye to Owode-Yewa, was awarded to RAJCOM Construction Company so the work can be done and delivered on time”.

But to our amazement, the Chinese company, CECCC had succeeded in keeping to its promise by expediting action on its own part of the road, while RAJCOM had failed to live up to expectations”. Governor Abiodun concluded.

To him, RAJCOm had not demonstrated a serious commitment the state government required and hence the need to terminate the contract agreement. Governor Abiodun said “The road is important not only to the people of Yewaland, but the whole state”. The governor assured that the Operations manager of the CECCC has promised that the asphalting of the road would commence in two weeks time in order to relief the people of harrowing experience of passing through on the road

The governor then used to occasion to thank people for their support to the current administration and urged the people of the area to cooperate and support the contactor handling the project for timely completion of the project.
